Engineering's Proud Past and Bright Future
WES Conference 2006 was held from Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd September 2006 at University of Edinburgh, Scotland.
The future prosperity of manufacturing and construction engineering is dependent upon the quality and quantity of young people who are attracted to a career in engineering and also the continuing development of existing engineers, both male and female. The conference will make use of both these strands to inform and develop participants.
The conference included an Opening Address by Dr Peter Hughes; Engineering - Proud Past, Bright Future and Workshops on Engineering Education Outreach Initiatives, video link with NASA astranouts and CDP topics on Friday event.
On Saturday a technical visit to Scottish Parliament Building, Whisky Centre, Selex Sensors & Airborne Systems, and presentations by BAE System Naval Ships, Gender Equaility in Modern Apprenticeships, Weir Engineering Services, Open University - The living cell as an engineering system, Diversity Workshop and CDP workshop , ending with Conference Banquet.
The WES Annual General Meeting, Falkirk Wheel visit and Mentoring took place on Sunday.
